3.  Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief
Region 3 Devotees have been assigned food items for the US Virgin Islands relief. Please carefully read and follow the directions in the below file so that we can avoid duplication and optimize efficacy. Please make note of the October 8th deadline, otherwise the supplies may not be loaded in time onto transport ships.

Those that wish to travel to volunteer with relief missions can register at https://tinyurl.com/SaiNDRT.

Volunteers will be needed in the long-run for various efforts. Once the local Sai teams have identified the right broad initiatives for the SSIO (warranting a national volunteer call), we will start assigning teams accordingly.

Please DO NOT make separate arrangements. All individual and group volunteers who sign-up through the above link will be coordinated through the National and Regional Service teams.

The Central American Zone (Zone 2A) of the SSIO – the organizational parent of the island – is actively assessing the need across the disaster areas in Central America / Caribbean.

Once a call for international support is coordinated by the local SSIO teams, we will share all details.

The Sathya Sai Humanitarian Relief Website is posting regular updates about our missions: http://sathyasaihumanitarianrelief.org/
You can also join us through our new Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sairelief/
Both National/NDRT and International posts will be available in the above sites

OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT

We have received much interest by some members in enabling direct shipments of supplies. Although Online fulfillment (in coordination with your Regions) is the fastest, least expensive and overwhelmingly preferred method, insofar as logistics and speed are not impacted, we will temporarily accept this method of support, by those who may have no alternative options.

As per the communication sent to all Sai Centers on September 10, 2017, the Sathya Sai Society of America remains available for members expressing the desire to support relief efforts through tax-deductible contributions.

If you have any questions please reach out to your center service coordinator, Giridhar Jeedigunta, our regional service coordinator: gjeedigunta@gmail.com, or the SSIO team at saireliefusa@gmail.com.

Sai Ram Center Presidents and Group Leads,
Please send an update regarding your centers later this week as to how members have fared from the storm, including what help is needed, so I can convey to the SSIO disaster relief team.  Please forward following message to devotees:
Dear Region 3 Members:
Attached is a letter from Dr. Reddy regarding relief efforts of the SSIO.  Much of our region is bracing for severe conditions of Hurricane Irma, while St. Thomas has already been hit very hard.  Please stay safe, follow the advice of local authorities and continue to pray and foster your inner connection with Swami.  Please keep your center officers up to date on how you have fared with the storm and what help you require.

Sairam Dear Center and Group Presidents:

Please share, with your members, the following message and attachments about the medical camp in Prashanthinilayam.

Hope you are actively encouraging your members to participate in the regional retreat. By Swami’s grace, inspiring talks, several useful workshops, fun filled SSE and pre-SSE programs, YA activities are all being planned. The agenda will soon be available on the website. It is a good idea to make a presentation to your members showing all the retreat related information that is made available on our website. Look forward to seeing you all at the retreat,

Best Regards

Gnana Bhaskar

Sai Ram Regional Presidents,

Please see the letter below from Dr. Narendranath Reddy, Chairman Prasanthi Council, about the Medical Camp at Prasanthi Nilayam this July 6 to 10, 2017.  Attachments include a letter of invitation and report on the Medical Camp at Prasanthi Nilayam last November.

Please share this letter and attachments with the centers in your regions that all devotees may receive them. In the report photos many devotees from all the regions will recognize devotees they know who had volunteered for the camp during Birthday 2016.

Sai Ram

Jack Feely, Ph.D.

President, National Council SSIO-USA

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Om Sri Sai Ram.

I hope you are doing well by Swami’s Grace.

Please see enclosed a letter regarding the Medical Camp to be conducted during 6th–10th July 2017 in Prasanthi Nilayam, with camp setup on 5th July. This is a blessed opportunity for healthcare professionals and general volunteers to serve in the sacred abode of our dearest Swami during the Guru Poornima celebrations.

During the 2016 Swami’s Birthday celebrations, 80 medical and general volunteers from 11 countries offered loving services to more than 6,100 needy patients in Prasanthi Nilayam. Further details about the medical camp held in November 2016, illustrated with beautiful pictures, can be found in the attached report.

Zone Chairs, please forward the attached letter of invitation and the report on the medical camp held in Prasanthi Nilayam in November 2016 to the Central Coordinators, Deputy Central Coordinators, Zone Youth Coordinators, and National Council Presidents and request them to distribute these documents to all SSIO members, including Young Adults. In addition, please publish the attached documents on SSIO websites at the zonal, country, sub-regional, or local level to inform, inspire and motivate all. Please consult with your Zone Medical Directors, who would then work with the medical team organizing the camps at Prasanthi Nilayam, for further arrangements.

Thank you.

6.  Service – Guest Speaker Series
Dear Service Team,
Loving Sai Ram’s!
By Swami’s infinite Grace, this month, we start our new national Service Online Speaker sessions entitled: S-A-I Series (Service – Awareness – Inspiration) – where eminent speakers will share with us Service inspiration and practical advice. Live and interactive, these sessions are an ideal forum for service coordinators, project leads and anyone looking to start a service project, enrich their current activities or get answers to service-related matters. Sessions will initially take place every other month and expand based on participants’ interest and needs.
Please extend this loving invitation (and the attached flyer) to your Center Coordinators, Service Teams and anyone else who may be interested in service-related topics.
Our first session takes place on Jan 25th at 8:00 pm US Central Time, with Dr. Geetha Kamath, M.D. – a role model of selfless service in Swami’s name. As described in the attached flyer, Dr. Kamath’s medical camps in the US and abroad, and her selfless dedication to the health and wellbeing of our communities at large have been recognized and awarded by many organizations.
I look forward to seeing you there!
