Dr. Ghanshyam Patel – Bio
Dr. Ghanshyam Patel came to the United States in 1963 to accomplish one of his goals, which was to pursue higher education and be gainfully employed. His other life goal was to find God. He first heard about Bhagawan in 1971 when he was working in Los Angeles and then in 1972 went to Puttaparthi in search of God. Since then, having experienced divinity, he has been serving as an instrument of Bhagawan in various capacities everywhere he has lived.
Dr. Patel and his wife, Hema, started Sai Centers where they lived in Franklin, PA (1972) and Cleveland, OH (1978). The family then moved to New Jersey in 1980 and started the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Belle Mead (formerly, Princeton Sai Center) which continues to-date. Over the years, he served as an officer in all wings of Sai activities in the Belle Mead Sai Center and he also helped inspire devotees to start many new Sai Centers namely, Holmdel, Roseland, East Brunswick, Edison in NJ and Flushing in NY. Bhagawan graciously granted him several interviews giving instructions about the running of Sai Center activities. In the January 1984 edition of the Sanathana Sarathi, Professor Kasturi included an article about the Narayan Seva service activities in Trenton, NJ being done by the Belle Mead Sai Center.
Bhagawan blessed his three children to study in the Sri Sathya Sai educational system in Ooty, Prasanthi Nilayam, Brindavan and Anantapur. Dr. Patel received his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at a young age of 25 from North Carolina State University and subsequently served in senior positions at large corporations including, Ingersoll-Rand and Chicago Pneumatic. During this time, he contributed to ten technical publications and was responsible for developing many patents in the field of rotating compressors. He then changed careers and served in the financial services sector helping individuals with personal financial planning.
